"Perception as an Exploratory Process: Analysis of Information Visualization Usage";
Vortrag: Workshop on Human-Computer Interaction for Medicine and Health Care (HCI4MED), Liverpool, UK; 02.09.2008.

Kurzfassung englisch:
It can be argued that using Information Visualization tools is often an open-ended, exploratory process producing complex insights. It must be mentioned, however, that there is still very little research about how such exploratory processes function and how exactly human beings create insights. Often, thinking aloud is used as a methodology to investigates such questions, but this method has been criticized because sub jects are not able to solve difficult cognitive problems and verbalize at the same time. In the following paper, we propose an alternative method using electronic artifacts produced while using an Information Visualization tool and present first results gained with this method.
